    Your mission: use your gifts

“Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated, thus, everyone’s task is unique as his specific opportunity to implement it.”
~ Viktor E. Frankl, author, Man’s Search for Meaning

When people come to me for Big Vision Consulting, it’s often for help answering the question, “What should I do with my life?” so I spend a lot of time thinking about how to help people find and realize their purpose/mission/calling/path. One of the simplest answers to their question is: Use your gifts in a way that gives you pleasure and helps others. (click to tweet)

If you’re not sure what your gifts are, set a timer for 5-15 minutes and free write your answers to the following questions:

    • What comes easily to me?
    • What do I love to do?
    • What is something I’ve always done for as long as I can remember?
    • What are things that make me lose track of time when I do them?
    • What kinds of things do friends always ask me to do for/with them because it comes naturally to me?
    • What are other gifts, not related to natural talents, I have been given in this life (e.g. friends, family, a beautiful home, good health, money)?

Once you have your big list of gifts, put a star next to the ones that give you the most pleasure. Then, circle the ones that would be of help to others.

Which gifts have a star and a circle?

How can you use one of those gifts today?
