Frank Baum, author of “The Wizard of Oz” was thinking of what to name the magical land that would come to be called "Oz." He couldn't really think of anything and happened to glance at his filing cabinets.
The cabinets were organized alphabetically with lettering to indicate the contents: The first was files from A-G, then H-N, and finally, O-Z. He liked that last one and so decided to call the place Oz.
