How to Get Electronics Damage Not Protected by Warranty Repaired

A lot of electronics items have a detection dot in their phones or tablets or other products . These dots turn color from white to red when exposed to water. The idea is that water damage is not covered by warranty and so if you take the item in for repair and the tech opens it up and sees the red dot, he or she will inform you that the damage is not covered by warranty and there's nothing to be done for it. This would seem fair except that these dots are notoriously fickle and can change color for a variety of reasons including high humidity or even just a few drops of water falling on the item.

But it's easy to fix. Just open up the gadget and locate the dot. If it is red, simply apply some Clorox or any household bleach to a q-tip and wipe the dot down. The red will come off and leave a perfectly plain white disc behind. Warranty not voided.
