How to Get the Best Seats at a Concert for the Lowest Price

This hack will only work if you are pretty sure that the concert you are going to will not be completely sold out.

Go ahead and buy the cheapest possible tickets for an upcoming concert and walk into the venue. Then, when you are in your purchased seats at the concert, just before the curtains are going to go up (or even if they already have), look on the ticket-selling website to see which seats are still empty and were not purchased. In most cases, there will always be a few top-dollar seats that never got sold (and now most likely will not get sold because, well, the show is about to begin). Then, confidently walk right to those prime seats holding your ticket stubs and enjoy the show. The key here is confidence.

Thirty-five years ago, I was able to buy a standing room ticket at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and then move down into the orchestra at intermission.
