My mother told me one time, “Good things come to those who wait.” Although this statement of hope

reflected my mom’s somewhat passive approach to life, the goodness in it stayed with me. In times of trouble it was a reliable comfort. Eventually, it became a kind of mantra that I often repeated to others and said over and over to myself. Now reflecting back, it helped me keep my visions bright, even when they seemed impossible and out of reach.

With deep gratitude, today I can say I learned to understand how right my mother was. However, I also discovered, there was more to it. Author Sue Bender put it nicely in the closing line of her book, Plain and Simple... "Miracles happen after a lot of hard work."

What gift did your mom leave with you?
