Dr. Bernard Lown is Professor of Cardiology (Emeritus) at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is the developer of the original defibrillator. He is the cofounder of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, an organization which won the Nobel Prize in 1985, as well as SATELLIFE and ProCor. He is the author of The Lost Art of Healing: Practicing Compassion in Medicine. He lives in Newton, MA.
