Jody Rein is a leading authority on book publishing for individuals and organizations. She is the founder and owner of Author Planet, a big picture consulting, coaching and publishing services provider based near Denver, Colorado. Author Planet helps strategically create and bring books to market, both traditionally and self-published.  Author Planet seeks clients who share Jody's goal of excellence and cohesion in their published works and publishing decisions.

In a professional career spanning more than 30 years, Ms. Rein has facilitated the publication of more than three hundred books, including many that are critically acclaimed and have become bestsellers around the world. As an executive editor, she acquired books published by divisions of Random House and HarperCollins. Her agency (Jody Rein Books) and consulting clients books have been published by divisions of  Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Hachette, Perseus, Wiley, Fulcrum, Macmillan and others. Her books have been made into movies (Fox Studios), sitcoms (abc), docu-dramas (Natonal Geographic TV) and even reality shows (the History Channel).

More than anything, Jody is a strategic, creative thinker who gently guides people and businesses to create identity through books derived from authentic, proven brands. Often the process of revealing the perfect match of book-to-author-to audience-to platform involves deep and thoughtful discovery. Jody thrives on this interpersonal process, and excels, with her Author Planet Team, at following through to bring publication--and platform--dreams to fruition.

Jody graduated from the University of Michigan with Highest Honors in English. She began her career at Contemporary Books in Chicago, and moved up the editorial ranks and over to New York, where she served as executive editor for Bantam/Doubleday/Dell and Morrow/Avon, focusing on creating and acquiring bestselling and long-lived nonfiction works. She moved to the Denver area and opened her literary agency Jody Rein Books, Inc., and later her consulting company, Author Planet.

Jody has lectured frequently at the University of Denver's undergraduate and postgraduate publishing programs. She is a sought-after speaker at writers' conferences nationwide, including the James Rivers Writing Festival in Richmond Virginia, the San Francisco Writers Conference, the Willamette Writers Conference in Portland, OR, the Katchemak Bay Writers Conference in Homer, Alaska, the virtual Nonfiction Writers Conference and the Northern Colorado Writers Conference.

A skilled writer herself, Jody has ghostwritten several books (published by Viking and Hachette) as well as website copy, OpEd articles, press releases, cover copy and...well, if it's got words, she's probably written it at one time or another. She's coauthor of Writers Digest Books forthcoming How to Write a Book Proposal, 5th Edition.
