We all need to involve others to accomplish tasks and achieve our goals, but all too often involving others seems like more trouble than it's worth. You Don't Have to Do It Alone Alone is the Swiss Army Knife of involvement—a set of tools that can be used in any setting to get you the help you need. The authors lay out a simple, straightforward plan for involving others to get things done, detailing a practical five-step involvement process that begins with five key questions:
What kind of involvement is needed?
How do I know who to include?
How do I invite people to become involved?
How do I keep people involved?
How do I finish the job?
The answers to these questions serve as a guide to finding the right people and keeping them energized, enthusiastic, and committed until the work is completed. Real life examples from corporations, government, and nonprofits illustrate the process in action. You'll learn to involve others in a way that will actually make your work easier, resulting in less stress, better ideas, and more successful outcomes.

Everyone needs to involve other people in order to accomplish their tasks and achieve their goals. It doesn't matter if you're a CEO leading a major restructuring or a PTA volunteer raising money for after-school programs, you can't do it all yourself-you and the work will suffer if you try. But the hit-and-miss way most people go about involving others often takes too much time and seems like more trouble than it's worth.
You Don't Have to Do It Alone takes a systematic approach to involvement. It lays out a simple, straightforward plan of action for finding the right people and keeping them energized, enthusiastic, and committed until the work is completed. The book is organized around a series of five questions corresponding to steps in the involvement process-in fact, these questions are the titles of the first five chapters. Each chapter begins with a short anecdote that introduces one of the questions and offers helpful tools and techniques for resolving it, as well as providing examples from corporations, government, and the nonprofit sector that make the book interesting, fun, memorable-and, above all, useful.

All of us have things about ourselves we'd like to change. Maybe you want to be more organized or more outspoken, healthier or thinner. Or perhaps you want to quit smoking, work more efficiently, be a better listener, or a better leader. Whatever you want to change, you probably believe that your success depends on your conviction. The fact of the matter is, willpower alone won't get you to change.
Noah Blumenthal illustrates how each of us becomes so thoroughly conditioned to act in old, counterproductive ways that negative behaviors become part of our very being. In a very real sense we become addicted to ourselves. The problem, he explains, isn't that you aren't trying hard enough, but that you've never learned the right way to make difficult changes. Here, he details a proven three-stage strategy--illuminated with practical tools, techniques, and exercises--for breaking self-addictions and conquering damaging behaviors like anger, workaholism, risk aversion, procrastination, overeating, under-exercising--just about anything. We all want to change our counterproductive behaviors. Here, Blumenthal offers a step-by-step guide for how to do it successfully.

It doesn't just focus on what to change. Rather, it gives the reader an understanding of how to change.
All of us feel trapped, stuck, or unable to move forward in life at some point. What is it that's holding us back? According to Seth Adam Smith, it's who, not what. Ultimately, the greatest obstacle to achieving your full potential is you.
But you are also the solution to your greatest problem.
This book combats a destructive mind-set that we all sometimes fall into: I can't change. I am the victim of my circumstances, and I am confined by my personal limitations. This philosophy, though intangible, destroys more dreams and limits more lives than any actual, physical obstacle. To show us how to overcome this philosophy of fear, Smith draws on literature, history, and his personal experiences with chronic depression, as well as on encounters with remarkable “ordinary” people who've embraced a different philosophy: the belief that we possess the power to lift ourselves out of the abyss and into the light.
Smith inspires us to see that no matter how dire our circumstances may be, there is always a positive step you can take, however small it might be. He doesn't sugarcoat the difficulties or offer promises of overnight success. But he does promise that if you continue to see yourself as a victim you'll remain frozen and fearful. We may not be able to control what happens to us, but we can always control how we react.
But you are also the solution to your greatest problem.

Rising-star financial advisor Dasarte Yarnway offers a simple 4-step process you can use to become a Master Wealth Builder. It begins with having the right mindset—wealth begins in your mind and then is built every day through intentional actions. Yarnway examines:
• The 4 most common financial pitfalls and how to avoid them
• The 5 habits all Master Wealth Builders engage in
• The 3 best ways to master your income
• 7 simple practices for controlling costs
A worksheet helps you assess exactly where you are financially, where you want to go, and how you're going to get there. So start now! As Warren Buffett said, “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree long ago.” The sooner you plant, the more shade you'll have.

The problem for most Americans is not lack of income. A bigger, more widespread problem is the lack of discipline needed to adhere to long-term financial goals. This book shows readers how to make the mindset shift required to successfully plan for the future.
In most personal finance books you'll read, almost redundantly, that the road to wealth is made up of 80% behavior and 20% application. You'll also read that building wealth is about the long game and planning for the future. The overwhelming majority of successful financial planners know this to be true - so why are the bulk of young Americans still fixated on the get rich quick mentality? Because they haven't received adequate advice on how to identify their true motivations for building wealth - until now. In order to build wealth that lasts for generations, we must access our deepest desires, whether that is sharing with our community, security for our family, or leaving behind a legacy.
This book is designed to help people under 30 envision building multigenerational wealth by committing to a mindset of discipline that goes beyond retirement planning but instead, plan for a legacy. Yarnway walks readers through the different decades of their life, from the "roaring twenties" through the "thrifty fifties and beyond," explicitly showing how readers will be building intergenerational wealth at each stage. Wealth building isn't something that can be left until later - financial stability depends on the disciplined mindset that is created now.

“Technology is a great servant but a terrible master. This is the most important book ever written about one of the most significant aspects of our lives—the consequences of our addiction to online technology and how we can liberate ourselves and our children from it.”
—Dean Ornish, M.D. Founder & President, Preventive Medicine Research Institute, Clinical Professor of Medicine, UCSF, Author, The Spectrum
Technology: your master, or your friend? Do you feel ruled by your smartphone and enslaved by your e-mail or social-network activities? Digital technology is making us miserable, say bestselling authors and former tech executives Vivek Wadhwa and Alex Salkever. We've become a tribe of tech addicts—and it's not entirely our fault.
Taking advantage of vulnerabilities in human brain function, tech companies entice us to overdose on technology interaction. This damages our lives, work, families, and friendships. Swipe-driven dating apps train us to evaluate people like products, diminishing our relationships. At work, we e-mail on average 77 times a day, ruining our concentration. At home, light from our screens is contributing to epidemic sleep deprivation.
But we can reclaim our lives without dismissing technology. The authors explain how to avoid getting hooked on tech and how to define and control the roles that tech is playing and could play in our lives. And they provide a guide to technological and personal tools for regaining control. This readable book turns personal observation into a handy action guide to adapting to our new reality of omnipresent technology.

For all its considerable benefits, many argue that technology has been instrumental in eroding security, privacy, and community. But Vivek Wadhwa and Alex Salkever argue that the truth is far more insidious: technology is actively robbing us of our happiness by making us so reliant on it that it becomes an addiction. Tech companies have all the weapons--sophisticated tracking bots, GPS coordinates, and algorithms that determine the optimal ways to distract us to their products and apps--even secret coding that defeats government monitoring and supervision--but Vivek and Salkever now provide us with insights and techniques to fight back. They focus on four key areas: Love, Work, Self, and Society. In each case, they document how the promise of technology has mutated into addiction and despair, and they lay out strategies to take back control by understanding the addictive mechanisms at the root of technology overload.

Whatever your position, if you influence change in the lives of those around you, you are engaged in an act of leadership. And if you are a leader in any sense, you are creating a legacy as you live your daily life. That legacy is the sum total of the difference you make in the lives of others. Will you consciously craft your legacy or simply leave it up to chance?
Through an insightful parable, Your Leadership Legacy shows how to create a positive, empowering legacy that will endure and inspire. You'll learn that, as a leader, the legacy you live is the legacy you leave. Three Leadership Imperatives—dare to be a person, not a position; dare to connect; and dare to drive the dream—will guide you in creating a positive and lasting legacy.
